Job Summary
We are seeking a Night Auditor to oversee the smooth and seamless operation of the hotel throughout the night, combining exceptional Guest service with accurate financial and administrative control.
Working as a trusted overnight presence, the Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring that Guests receive attentive, discreet, and personalised assistance whilst maintaining the accuracy of the hotel’s daily financial records and systems. The role requires a calm and composed approach, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently whilst remaining closely connected with the wider hotel operation.
The ideal candidate is confident in managing Guest interactions, comfortable with financial procedures and systems, and committed to maintaining the refined standards of service expected within a luxury boutique hotel.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome arriving guests with a warm, polished, and professional demeanour, ensuring their experience reflects Iniala’s standards of intuitive hospitality.
- Manage late arrivals and early departures efficiently, ensuring all guest interactions are handled with discretion, care, and attention to detail.
- Provide personalised assistance to guests throughout the night, responding promptly and thoughtfully to enquiries, requests, and concerns.
- Act as a knowledgeable and reassuring point of contact for guests during overnight hours, providing information on hotel services, facilities, dining, and local recommendations as required.
- Monitor the hotel throughout the night, maintaining a visible yet discreet presence and ensuring the wellbeing, comfort, and security of guests.
- Handle overnight emergencies or unexpected situations calmly and appropriately, following established procedures and escalating matters to the relevant manager or department when required.
- Complete the daily night audit accurately and within the required timeframe, ensuring all transactions and postings are correctly recorded and reconciled.
- Ensure the accurate close of all Food & Beverage outlets, reviewing cash, credit card, and room-charge transactions against POS reports and verifying that all open checks are settled and closed.
- Review F&B cash-ups, including cash floats, voids, discounts, complimentary items, refunds, covers, and end-of-day sales reports, ensuring all transactions are properly authorised, supported, and reconciled.
- Identify and document any discrepancies between cash, card settlements, room charges, and POS totals, ensuring reconciled takings are secured and all closing reports, receipts, and variance notes are prepared for audit and morning handover.
- Reconcile room charges, restaurant and other hotel revenue, payments, adjustments, and deposits against the relevant systems and supporting documentation.
- Review and verify daily financial transactions, identifying discrepancies and taking appropriate action to resolve them or report them to the relevant department.
- Prepare and distribute daily operational and financial reports in accordance with established procedures.
- Review room status, reservations, arrivals, departures, no-shows, cancellations, room rates, and other relevant information to ensure the accuracy and integrity of hotel records.
- Monitor and update guest profiles and reservations where required, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and handled with appropriate confidentiality.
- Process payments, invoices, refunds, and other financial transactions accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of all overnight incidents, guest requests, financial discrepancies, F&B variances, and operational matters, ensuring a clear handover to the morning team.
- Conduct a thorough handover to the incoming team, communicating all relevant guest, operational, financial, F&B, and maintenance matters clearly and in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with Security, Housekeeping, Engineering, F&B, and other departments as required to ensure continuity of hotel operations.
- Maintain the reception and guest areas in an immaculate and welcoming condition throughout the night.
- Monitor access to the hotel and follow established security and key control procedures, ensuring the safety and privacy of guests and team members.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience or generate additional revenue where appropriate, whilst ensuring that recommendations remain genuine and tailored to the guest.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of hotel facilities, services, rates, policies, F&B operations, and standard operating procedures.
- Adhere to Forbes, Iniala, and service quality standards at all times.
- Maintain organised and accurate records and files in line with company standards.
- Carry out other job-related duties as assigned in support of hotel operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within a luxury hotel or high-end hospitality environment, with previous night audit or night reception experience considered an asset.
- Previous experience in hotel finance, reconciliation, cashiering, or night audit procedures is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in computer systems and the Microsoft Office suite. A working knowledge of the Opera property management system is considered an asset.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities independently.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with guests whilst maintaining a discreet and professional approach.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with unexpected situations or challenging circumstances.
- A high level of integrity and discretion, particularly when handling financial transactions and confidential Guest information.
- Impeccable grooming and presentation standards, with a strong understanding of luxury hospitality.
- A genuine passion for delivering attentive service and creating a seamless Guest journey.
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions within established procedures.
Other Requirements
- The role requires prolonged periods of standing and working at the reception desk and in guest-facing areas.
- The role requires a high level of concentration and accuracy, particularly when completing financial reconciliations and the end-of-day audit.
- The ability to work independently during overnight hours is essential.
