Overview

Job Summary

As a Restaurant Host, you will be the first and last point of contact for our guests, creating a warm and polished impression from the moment they make a reservation to the moment they depart. 

The ideal candidate is gracious, well organised, and impeccably presented, with excellent communication skills and a natural ability to manage reservations and seating flow with calm and confidence. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manage and record reservations through telephone and online portals, ensuring accurate documentation. 
  • Handle guest enquiries regarding seating availability, menus, and other restaurant-related questions promptly and professionally. 
  • Confirm guest reservations as per established procedures. 
  • Warmly welcome guests and escort them to their assigned tables. 
  • Monitor restaurant activity to manage seating arrangements and dining flow effectively. 
  • Coordinate and lead venue tours for potential function bookings, providing quotes based on guest requirements. 
  • Manage the coat service function of the restaurant. 
  • Provide assistance to the front-of-house team with events operations. 
  • Print the daily menus and look after the menu folders, function sheets, and briefing material in an organised manner. 
  • Issue bills and handle cash closures at the end of shifts as needed. 
  • Support the Restaurant Manager and front-of-house team during lunch and dinner services and other events. 
  • Take the initiative to familiarise oneself with the menu options and keep abreast of any planned changes. 
  • Carry out other job-related duties as assigned in support of the restaurant and hotel operations. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a host, reservations, or front-of-house role, preferably within a fine dining or luxury hospitality environment. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset. 
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage reservations and seating flow accurately. 
  • Impeccable personal presentation and a warm, gracious manner. 
  • Proficiency in reservation systems and the Microsoft Office suite is considered an asset. 
  • The ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment. 
  • A team player mindset, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others. 

Working Conditions

  • Required to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
