Job Summary

As a Commis Waiter at our two-Michelin-star restaurant, ION Harbour by Simon Rogan, you will play a pivotal role in creating an unforgettable dining experience for our guests. Working closely with the front-of-house team, you will assist in delivering exceptional service that reflects the restaurant’s commitment to excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up tables with utensils, glassware, and tableware in accordance with the restaurant’s standards. 
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of tables throughout service, promptly clearing used dishes and utensils. 
  • Keep a keen eye on tables and alert servers if drinks require refilling. 
  • Prepare and serve bread baskets and other condiments to guests. 
  • Collaborate with the Chef de Rang and other team members to take and deliver food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently. 
  • Maintain familiarity with the menu offering, ingredients, and preparation methods to assist guests with any enquiries. 
  • Be attentive to guests’ needs throughout their dining experience, promptly addressing requests and providing exceptional guest service. 
  • Assist in clearing and resetting tables efficiently after each course, maintaining a clean and orderly dining area. 
  • Ensure that all silverware, glassware, and serving equipment are polished to perfection and ready for service. 
  • Maintain an adequate supply of clean linen by retrieving clean linen and delivering used linen to the hotel’s Linen Department. 
  • Ensure that all stations are stocked with the necessary items. 
  • Offer assistance to senior service team members and management as needed to maintain a seamless and efficient dining service. 
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols to create a safe and pleasant dining environment. 
  • Carry out other job-related duties as assigned in support of the restaurant and hotel operations. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in a Michelin-starred or fine dining establishment. 
  • A genuine passion for providing exceptional guest service and an eagerness to learn and develop within the industry. 
  • Outstanding communication skills, with fluency in English. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a friendly and courteous demeanour. 
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and attention to detail. 
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with a willingness to work as part of a team. 
  • A strong work ethic and a commitment to upholding the restaurant’s high standards. 

Other Requirements

  • Ability to perform a physically active role, including standing and walking for extended periods and carrying trays and service items during service. 

Working Conditions

  • Required to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
