We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team. Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, you will support the financial management of the business by maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and contributing to continuous improvements within the finance function.
The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organised, and comfortable working with financial data and reconciliations. You will have a strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in hospitality finance will be considered an advantage.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily income audits and verify revenue across all operational areas, including Rooms, Food and Beverage, and Spa.
- Conduct revenue reconciliations and ensure accurate posting to the General Ledger.
- Manage credit card reconciliations and ensure timely clearing of transactions.
- Monitor and reconcile PM Accounts and City Ledger balances, including follow-up on outstanding payments.
- Supervise and verify stock takes and maintain effective stock control processes.
- Perform supplier reconciliations related to stock purchases.
- Review purchase authorisations to ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures.
- Conduct periodic audits of cash tills and petty cash.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and manage monthly depreciation schedules.
- Prepare and maintain accrual and prepayment schedules to support accurate month-end reporting.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures and preparation of management accounts.
- Monitor construction-related cash flows and assist in tracking liquidity requirements.
- Assist with Malta Enterprise submissions and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Verify and process payments for goods and services.
- Perform reconciliations for service suppliers and ensure appropriate authorisation of service expenses.
- Provide finance support to subsidiary companies within the group when required.
- Maintain accurate financial data within finance systems to minimise manual entries.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance workflows and contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives.
- Carries out other job related duties as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Partly qualified or fully qualified accountant with relevant practical experience.
- Previous experience in a finance role within the hospitality industry is considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with Maltese company law and statutory financial compliance.
- Experience supporting external audits is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial work.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with both finance and operational teams.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accountability and professionalism.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with Oracle Opera Property Management System and Oracle Symphony POS would be beneficial.
