Overview

Job Summary

As a Restaurant Host at ION Harbour, you will be responsible for delivering a warm, professional, and seamless first impression to our guests. You will manage reservations, coordinate table allocations, and ensure that all guests are welcomed and seated efficiently in line with our service standards.

Working closely with the Restaurant Supervisor and management team, you will support the smooth flow of front-of-house operations while maintaining the refined and personalised experience that defines ION Harbour.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a fine dining or upscale hospitality environment, with strong organisational skills and a genuine passion for guest service.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Greets and welcomes guests in a warm, professional, and engaging manner upon arrival.
  • Manages reservations efficiently, ensuring optimal table allocation in coordination with the Restaurant Supervisor and management team.
  • Maintains accurate guest profiles, noting preferences, allergies, and special occasions where applicable.
  • Escorts guests to their tables and ensures they are comfortably settled.
  • Manages waiting lists during busy periods whilst maintaining guest engagement and satisfaction.
  • Answers telephone calls and handles reservation inquiries in a clear and professional manner.
  • Communicates effectively with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Supports the service team during peak periods where required.
  • Handles basic guest requests and refers complaints or complex issues to the Restaurant Supervisor or management team.
  • Assists with opening and closing procedures related to the reception and guest areas.
  • Ensures the reception area and entrance are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Adheres to all safety, sanitation and food handling standards, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Carries out other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in a fine dining, upscale restaurant, or luxury hospitality environment preferred.
  • Strong guest service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in the English language.
  • Highly organised with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • A keen eye for detail and commitment to high service standards.
  • Familiarity with reservation systems and POS systems is considered an asset.

  • Flexibility to support operational requirements where needed.

Working Conditions

  • Required to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
