We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Gym Instructor to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will provide personalised fitness guidance and support to our guests and members in our state-of-the-art gym facility.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a similar role, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough fitness assessments for hotel guests and/or gym members, taking into consideration their health history, fitness goals and preferences.
- Develops personalised workout plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring a safe and effective fitness experience.
- Provides a comprehensive orientation of the gym facilities, equipment and services to the new members and/or guests.
- Provides private personal training sessions for guests seeking personalised attention and guidance.
- Provides safe and effective instruction on exercise techniques and equipment usage.
- Monitors and maintains gym equipment, ensuring it is clean, functional and safe for use.
- Retains and updates the required guest documentation, in line with established regulations and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
- Reports any equipment issues promptly to the relevant department for timely resolution.
- Enforces safety guidelines and proper use of equipment to prevent injuries in as much as possible.
- Ensures that the gym is maintained to high standards of cleanliness and upkeep at all times, including replenishing of items such as water, towels etc.
- Stay informed about the latest fitness trends, techniques and safety protocols to enhance guest experience.
- Fosters a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the gym, creating a positive and motivating environment.
- Responds to guest inquiries, provide fitness advise and assist with any concerns related to the gym facility.
- Handles and, where necessary, escalates guest complaints and incidents, such as accidents or emergencies, as per established procedures.
- Collaborates with other Hotel departments to ensure a seamless and holistic guest experience.
- Carries out other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- In possession of a valid and accredited personal trainer qualification (e.g. EREPS, NASM, ISSA or equivalent)
- A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role, preferably within a luxury hotel or high-end hospitality environment.
- First Aid certification will be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in spoken and written English. Proficiency in other languages will be considered an advantage.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with guests and colleagues alike.
- A commitment to delivering a high level of guest service.
- Knowledge in general nutrition and wellness will be considered an advantage.
