Overview

As Head Butler at our prestigious Forbes 5-star rated hotel, you will lead a team of professional butlers, dedicated to delivering bespoke, world-class service. 

Your role will be pivotal in curating exceptional and memorable guest experiences, overseeing every detail of butler operations to ensure each guest enjoys the highest standard of personal care, discretion, and attention. 

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be actively involved in daily operations, working alongside your team to maintain flawless service and uphold Iniala’s reputation for excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages and reviews SOPs for the Butler service and implements new procedures to continually improve procedures to exceed guest expectations.
  • Continuously seeks innovative ways to elevate and improve our Butler service and drives forward their implementation with the required stakeholders.
  • Holds daily briefings with the Butler team and hands over all relevant information pertaining to the activities of the day.
  • Conducts room inspections with the Head of Housekeeping, to ensure that these are prepared to the highest standard. 
  • Personally participates in the daily operations of the butler department, leading by example and maintaining a strong presence on the floor.
  • Oversees the coordination of guest arrivals and departures, including welcome and farewell rituals. 
  • On request, meets and greets guests at airport, and assists with departure for VIP guests.
  • Ensures that the Butler team is fully aware of all dining options, are able to answer any questions regarding menu selections and communicate efficiently with the F&B team regarding product availability. This includes all in-room dining service delivery and the setting up for events such as lunches, dinners and canape parties in the Suites. 
  • Checks in with guests regularly to ensure complete satisfaction with services received. 
  • Resolves guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Schedules and manages rosters for the Butler team to ensure adequate coverage and efficient service.
  • Liaises with other Departments, including Concierge, Housekeeping and F&B to ensure a seamless guest experience. 
  • Monitors stock inventory and follows-up on pending issues with store requisitions.
  • Ensures that the Butler team are well-versed in established protocols and that these are being adhered to. 
  • Undertakes Duty Manager duties as per roster issued. 
  • Develops and conducts ongoing staff training programmes.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Ensures that all team members understands and strictly adheres to the rules and regulations of the company and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene and Health & Safety. 
  • Attends and contributes to the required departmental meeting training as scheduled and other related activities.
  • Upholds the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and discretion.
  • Carries out other job-related duties as required.  

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a butler department, or in another role in a luxury or fine dining establishment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Superior customer service skills, with the ability to anticipate guest needs and provide personalised attention.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with fluency in the English language. Knowledge of other languages is considered an asset.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Impeccable grooming and presentation.
