Overview

As a Chef de Rang at our 2* Michelin restaurant, ION Harbour by Simon Rogan, you will play a pivotal role in creating an unforgettable dining experience for our guests. You will be responsible for providing exceptional service, overseeing the smooth flow of service in your section and ensuring that each guest receives personalised attention and satisfaction.  

As a key member of our service team, your attention to detail, polished communication skills and passion for delivering world-class dining experiences will be essential to the success of our restaurant.  

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Delivers an exceptional standard of service, showcasing attentiveness, warmth and professionalism to create a memorable dining experience for our guests.  
  • Ensures tables are impeccable set with appropriate utensils, glassware and tableware before guests are seated. 
  • Supervises and manages a designated section of tables, ensuring efficient seating, order taking and overall guest satisfaction. 
  • Demonstrates confidence and expertise in tableside food preparation, showcasing culinary skills and menu knowledge. 
  • Engages with customers in a polite and personable manner, making recommendations and providing suggestions to enhance their dining experience. 
  • Takes accurate orders from customers, checking for any special dietary requirements and making appropriate suggestions accordingly. 
  • Liaises with the Kitchen and Bar sections to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders, maintaining a seamless dining service.  
  • Promotes additional menu items, specials and beverages to enhance the overall guest experience and increase revenue. 
  • Monitors guest satisfaction and responds promptly to any issues or concerns. 
  • Collaborates with colleagues in the front and back of house to maintain a harmonious and efficient service environment. 
  • Take measures to reduce waste and minimise costs wherever possible, while maintaining high standards of food quality and service. 
  • Assists in the general upkeep and cleanliness of the restaurant and surrounding areas 
  • Follows all cash handling policies and procedures, including accurately processing payments and maintaining accurate records. 
  • Ensures that breakage and loss of restaurant equipment is kept to a minimum, reporting any issues promptly to the Restaurant Manager or other members of management. 
  • Adheres to all safety, sanitation and food handling standards, ensuring a safe and hygienic dining environment. 
  • Carries out other job-related duties as required.   

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience working in a Michelin-starred or fine dining establishment. 
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage service protocols. 
  • Superior customer service skills, with the ability to anticipate guest needs and provide personalised attention. 
  • Outstanding communication skills, with fluency in the English language. Knowledge of other languages is considered an asset.  
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. 
  • A team player mindset, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Must be able and willing to work evenings, weekends and Public Holidays.
