We are seeking a highly skilled Chef de Rang to join our team at ION Harbour, our 1-star Michelin restaurant. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our guests receive an unforgettable culinary experience by overseeing the smooth and efficient service of our dining room.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service and strive to exceed guest expectations in every interaction.
  • Welcome guests upon arrival, escorting them to their tables and providing menus.
  • Demonstrate confidence and expertise in tableside food preparation, showcasing culinary skills and menu knowledge.
  • Engage with customers in a polite and personable manner, making recommendations and providing suggestions to enhance their dining experience.
  • Take accurate orders from customers, checking for any special dietary requirements and making appropriate suggestions accordingly.
  • Adhere to timing standards for food and beverage service, ensuring that all orders are prepared and delivered promptly and efficiently.
  • Seek opportunities to consolidate service and increase table turns while maintaining a high level of service.
  • Apply positive suggestive sales techniques to guide guests towards additional orders or upgrades, enhancing their dining experience.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to any issues or concerns, processing orders for additional items if necessary.
  • Remain calm and alert, particularly during busy periods, ensuring that service is smooth and efficient.
  • Take measures to reduce waste and minimise costs wherever possible, while maintaining high standards of food quality and service.
  • Assist in the general upkeep and cleanliness of the restaurant and surrounding areas
  • Follow all cash handling policies and procedures, including accurately processing payments and maintaining accurate records.
  • Promote the hotel's facilities and services in a positive manner, interacting positively with customers to ensure a memorable dining experience.
  • Ensure that breakage and loss of restaurant equipment is kept to a minimum, reporting any issues promptly to the Restaurant Manager or hotel senior management.
  • Complete any other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager or hotel senior management.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience working in a Michelin-starred or fine dining establishment.
  • Confidence in serving food and beverage, with a deep knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and pairings.
  • Superior customer service skills, with the ability to anticipate guest needs and provide personalised attention.
  • Fluency in the English language, with strong verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team player mindset, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others,
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
